Performing an Essential Service
In today’s society, there is a lot of discussion as to what constitutes an “essential” vs. “non-essential” business. Barber shops, gyms, and retail stores make up a portion of the latest closures around the country, while grocery stores, pharmacies, and gas stations remain open. As more and more businesses around the country are temporarily shuttered due to COVID-19 concerns, all Mr. Transmission and Milex Complete Auto Care stores remain open for business to serve our customers in need.
On March 19, The Department of Homeland Security issued a memorandum to state and local governments to include the vehicle service and repair industry in the definition of essential services for the purposes of emergency orders that require non-essential businesses to close.
The Memorandum states: “Functioning critical infrastructure is imperative during the response to the COVID-19 emergency for both public health and safety as well as community well-being. Certain critical infrastructure industries have a special responsibility in these times to continue operations.
“This guidance and accompanying list are intended to support State, Local, and industry partners in identifying the critical infrastructure sectors and the essential workers needed to maintain the services and functions Americans depend on daily and that need to be able to operate resiliently during the COVID-19 pandemic response.”
As automotive repair and maintenance facilities, Mr. Transmission and Milex stores fall under this designation.
At Mr. Transmission and Milex, we provide the necessary and essential service to keep vehicles on the road, to help people get to pharmacies, food and if they need it, medical services. We will continue to perform regular maintenance, engine repairs, transmission repairs, and free towing on all major repairs. All of our technicians are also taking all the necessary precautions during this incredibly sensitive time.
During this unnerving time, we’d like to reassure everyone that providing a safe and healthy environment for our employees and customers is our top priority here at Mr. Transmission, Milex and our family of brands. We are continuing to monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and are following the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.
To prevent the spread of coronavirus, about half of our repair centers are offering free vehicle pick up/drop off. If customers do not wish to come into their local Mr. Transmission/Milex location we are offering customers within a certain radius (check local store for more information) free vehicle pick-up and drop-off through the end of March.
This applies to any vehicle in need of repair and will be done on a case by case basis. We will communicate what our team is doing to your vehicle and what is needed through text messaging and/or phone calls, whichever method our customers prefer. All other centers have key drop kits for after hour drop-offs.
Each Mr. Transmission/Milex center takes every precaution for ensuring the safety protection of the vehicles we service, including a full disinfecting wipedown before and after the service. We continue to monitor current developments and make necessary adjustments and will do our part to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact your local Mr. Transmission/Milex center directly.
