Moran Family of Brands is proud to attract the best kind of franchisee. Roman Combs, owner/operator of the Mr. Transmission®/Milex franchise in Oklahoma City, is not only a veteran and successful franchisee but also a coach and leader for the Reboot Recovery program, which has helped over 30,000 people heal from trauma.
Reboot Recovery Founders Jenny and Evan Owens established the national recovery program as part of the faith-based trauma healing movement, which is focused on collaborating with churches and community leaders to facilitate peer-led responses to trauma and suicide. After a therapist recommended the program to Combs, he discovered that there was no local branch to join.
“I’ve always had the philosophy that if I can’t find help, I will become help,” said Combs. With a lifetime commitment to giving back, Combs has always prioritized volunteering, which has made his partnership with Moran Brands an ideal one. In addition to coaching football for elementary schools and facilitating networking groups, he welcomed the opportunity to create a local place for individuals to learn how to recognize and change their reactions to trauma.
“The typical things people do are crying, denying, running and numbing,” explained Combs. “Trying to change the way you react to problems and doing it in a healthy manner can help you move past even the most challenging situations.”
Following decades in the fast food industry, Combs established the first Moran Family of Brands franchise in Oklahoma City about 15 years ago and has been happy with the franchisee life from the beginning. He chose Mr. Transmission/Milex – which specializes in auto maintenance, tune-ups, repairs and rebuilds – for the opportunity to service an untapped region as well as for its quality business model and support structure.
With the long-term goal of expanding the availability of local mental health services, Combs will be leading trauma and combat recovery groups as part of a new holistic veterans’ mental wellness program in the upcoming months. “Helping other folks catch a break is a dopamine hack for me,” he said.
